An Oil Free Moisturizer Sounds Okay – But Does It Moisturize And Hydrate Skin Like Natural Oils Do?

Anti Aging Moisturizers

It’s amazing how many people insist on using an oil free moisturizer… In theory, I guess it makes sense to believe rubbing a whole lot of oil into your face isn’t going to do it the world of good.

The one simple reason for applying a moisturizer is to hydrate your skin. Now… you can use anything you like providing it adds moisture and stops water loss. But, keep in mind skin creams can contain “good or bad” ingredients. I imagine just like anyone else you want the best one for the job, at the best possible price.

The problem with an oil free moisturizer is that some of the chemicals they use are petroleum based — you wouldn’t under normal circumstances rub the likes of mineral oil, paraffin, paraben preservative chemicals or alcohol onto your face.

However… You would probably feel very comfortable rubbing avocado and macadamia oil, jojoba oil or shea butter into your facial skin.

Plenty of good quality natural active emollients and antioxidants are what is needed to make the best moisturizers.

Just in case you don’t already know — emollients have three properties. Occlusion… Humectant… Lubrication.

Natural emollients provide a layer of oil to your skin’s surface to stop moisture loss and help increase its water holding capacity. The Lubrication adds slip across the skin.

Many moisturizing substances are similar to — and often confused with other emollient and antioxidant ingredients. All you need to really understand when evaluating a moisturizer, is are the ingredients petroleum based or natural… What are they — and the amount of active ingredients contained in them.

Natural oils like the ones mentioned above are often used in lotions because they can penetrate deep down into the skin and not sit in… or clog the pore. But — the same can’t be said for the petroleum based substances mentioned earlier.

An oil free moisturizer is not the best option when it comes to looking after your complexion, particularly if you are unlucky enough to have a very dry skin.

Do a little research and evaluation into moisturizing creams — and your more than likely going to come to the same conclusion that I have. Natural oils are a better option than an oil free moisturizer to help you get back the younger, smoother well hydrated complexion you once enjoyed.
